Two people were rescued from a porch roof early Sunday morning during a fire that destroyed a home in downtown Franklin.
A total of five people reportedly lived in the home. None of the residents was harmed, but reports indicate that three Franklin firefighters were treated for unknown injuries. Two of the men were taken for treatment to UPMC Northwest in Cranberry.
The fire broke out shortly before 3:30 AM Sunday at a home owned by Isabelle Brown on the 1300-block of Chestnut Street in Franklin. Franklin and Rocky Grove firefighters were on the scene for nearly six hours.
The cause of the fire, which apparently began somewhere in the rear of the house, is under investigation. The home and its contents were declared total losses. Damages are estimated at well over $50,000.
