A Farrell man was ordered held for trial on Tuesday in a drive-by shooting incident at a Clarion apartment complex that left a Clarion University student injured.

20 year-old Kevin Austin is accused of firing at least a half-dozen shots toward an apartment occupied by a group of individuals at a party on Leatherwood Drive in Clarion at about 1:00 AM on February 2.  19 year-old Rakeeah Merritt was shot in the leg, and required treatment at a Pittsburgh hospital.

In Clarion County Court on Tuesday, Austin was ordered to stand trial on five counts of attempted homicide, eleven counts of aggravated and simple assault, five counts of reckless endangerment, and two weapons violations — illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm without a license.  Six other counts were withdrawn by prosecutors.

Austin remains in the Clarion County Jail on $500,000 bail.
