A Farrell man has been acquitted of six counts of attempted homicide, but he was convicted in Clarion County Court this week on nine other charges connected with a drive-by shooting in Clarion in which a Pittsburgh woman was injured last February.

21 year-old Kevin Austin was found guilty on Wednesday on charges that included both aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and firearms violations.  Austin will be sentenced at a later date.

Austin was one of several Farrell residents who had attended a party at which a fight had been reported at an apartment complex near Clarion University on February 1.  As the party ended, and with many of the attendees now gathered outside the building, a car raced by and several shots were fired toward the building.

One shot hit a 19 year-old university student, Rakeeah Merritt, in the right leg.  Merritt required treatment for her injury at a Pittsburgh hospital.
