The Emlenton Borough Police Department has issued an apology to an area businessman against whom the paperwork for an arson charge, withdrawn earlier this year, apparently still made its way to a district magisterial judge.
A criminal complaint had been filed Wednesday against 44 year-old Ronald Forsythe in connection with a July second fire at an unoccupied building on Main Street in Emlenton. This past Friday, local police revealed that the charge had earlier been withdrawn.
The fire, late on the afternoon of the Monday of Fourth of July week, shut down traffic on Emlenton’s Main Street. Police say the charge of arson against Forsythe was “misfiled,” and their statement added “a mistake was made.”
