For the second straight year, DuBois, playing on their home field at DuBois City Park, captured the Section 1 Junior League Title, beating McLane 13-1 on Saturday afternoon.

DuBois will go on to compete in the eight-team state championship tournament which begins Wednesday morning in Cranberry.  DuBois’ games in “pool play” are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 5:30 PM each day.

McLane went 2-2 in the Section 1 tournament, keeping Franklin’s Junior League All-Stars from advancing to the championship round against DuBois by posting a last-minute 3-2 victory over Franklin in Friday’s double-elimination losers’ bracket final.

DuBois also won the Senior League Section 1 baseball title in a 14-6 decision over Meadville-Mid-East-Titusville in a game played in Meadville, and the 10-and-11 year-old Little League Softball championship, taking 2-of-3 games in a series played in DuBois and winning the deciding game 14-4.

But, the DuBois Junior League Softball team dropped a pair of decisions (4-2 and 8-1) to Northwestern in the Sectional finals after they had won the winners’ bracket final in St. Marys.
