Drivers Urged To Avoid Drowsiness Following Time Change

March 12, 2018

The travel agency AAA and others are urging drivers to be careful as they return to work and school following the weekend’s time change.

We lost an hour over the weekend with Sunday morning’s change to Daylight Saving Time, and AAA says drowsy driving could be an issue.  Some experts calculate that the loss of even just one or two hours of sleep can double the risk for a crash.

Pedestrians are also cautioned to be extra alert for the drivers around them.

Radio PA News cites a PennDOT report from 2016 which attributed more than 2,600 crashes and twenty-five fatalities in Pennsylvania that year to drowsy driving.
