Venango County officials say dog law enforcement officers will be canvassing the county during the first two weeks in May to ensure that dogs are licensed and vaccinated, and are not being permitted to run at large.
Pennsylvania law requires that all dogs three months of age and older must be licensed, with their license tags displayed on their collars. Licenses may be acquired or renewed at the county treasurer’s office.
In addition, up-to-date rabies vaccinations are required of all dogs three months of age and older (and any cat that enters a human dwelling).
Violations of the state dog license and rabies vaccination laws can result in fines of up to 300 dollars, plus court costs.
