Depleted Penguins Team Loses 2-1 At Carolina

Brian Dumoulin recorded Pittsburgh’s only score on Friday night as the injury-depleted Penguins lost 2-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Down five players including starting goaltender Matt Murray, the Pens dropped the first game of a three-game road trip.  Murray’s replacement, Tristan Jarry (5-3-2), stopped 31-of-33 shots.

Derek Ryan and Sebastian Aho scored for Carolina (18-12-7).  Cam Ward (10-2-1) earned the win in goal with 27 saves.

The Penguins (19-17-3) will play the Red Wings (14-16-7) in Detroit on New Year’s Eve.  Sunday night’s game broadcast on 96.3 KQW will begin at 6:30 PM.
