Danica Patrick won the pole position for the Daytona 500 on Sunday, becoming the first woman to not only win the Daytona pole, but the first to earn the top starting position for any NASCAR Sprint Cup event.
The Daytona 500 will be run next Sunday, and will be broadcast on 96.3 KQW.
Patrick was eighth in the qualifying session before returning to the track and posting a top lap time of 196.434 miles per hour. Jeff Gordon captured the other guaranteed spot for next weekend’s Sprint Cup debut. The rest of the field will be determined in the duel qualifying races on Thursday, also to be aired on 96.3 KQW.
Kevin Harvick won the 75-lap Sprint Unlimited at Daytona on Saturday.
