One of the highlights of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner on Wednesday night was the opportunity for the Chamber to honor its Citizen-of-the-Year, whose name had been announced in early December.
Dan Feroz accepted the award from former Chamber director Ron Shoup.
Feroz was lauded as a planner-organizer for organizations that include the Oil Heritage Festival Committee, the Oil City Arts and Culture Commission and the Colonel Drake Alliance. In addition to his “in-the-trenches” volunteer efforts, Feroz, who is himself a musician, is active in booking concerts and other entertainment for numerous community events.
Feroz has worked as a behavioral and mental health caseworker, and as director of Venango County’s senior centers. He was also part of a task force that considered on behalf of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office, changes to state laws concerning scams targeted toward senior citizens. He also serves as a deacon and community volunteer for a local Presbyterian church.
