The Crawford County District Attorney’s office wants the older of two suspects in a brutal New Years Eve beating to be tried as an adult.
Charges were filed last week against two teenage boys — ages 16 and 15. The pair is accused in the beating of a 34 year-old man outside a Meadville pharmacy complex at about 3:00 AM on January 1. The victim was taken to a hospital in Erie.
District Attorney Francis Schultz wants the 16 year-old tried as an adult because of his alleged history of delinquency, the “severity of the charges,” and the extent of the victim’s injuries. A hearing is pending on the court motion.
Meanwhile, the younger suspect’s case is still being handled by Crawford County Juvenile Court.
