The Crawford County commissioners have followed the lead of officials from several other counties around the state, including Venango County, by abolishing the office of jury commissioner.
One official said it is expected the county will save about $20,000 a year through the move.
The terms of the two current jury commissioners extend through the end of the calendar year.
A recently-passed state House bill allows Pennsylvania counties the option of eliminating jury commissioner positions. Many counties have been opting to do just that since much of the work can now be done by computer systems.
In Crawford County, other part-time employees will cover any additional work that needs to be done in selecting and overseeing jury members.
