A Cranberry Township man was rescued on Friday afternoon after a trench in which he was working collapsed around him.
Officials say the incident occurred during a sewer line project in Cornplanter Township. The cave-in of a 12-foot hole left worker Ken Sharpe with a broken leg, and partially buried in the collapsed dirt.
Sharpe was apparently discovered by township employees. More than two dozen people, including Cornplanter workers and officials from four fire companies, worked for about an hour-and-a-half to free Sharpe.
Sharpe was treated at UPMC-Northwest in Cranberry.
