The Cranberry School Board this week approved the final reading of an $18.4 million budget for 2014-2015 which will contain a real estate tax increase of about 2-point-8 percent.

The spending plan passed unanimously.

The hike will mean property owners in the Cranberry School District will pay an additional $3.64 per year in taxes for each $10,000 worth of assessed property.

Even with the tax increase, the district will need to transfer more than $420,000 from its reserve fund balance.
