The state’s county commissioners are renewing their call on the Pennsylvania legislature to upgrade funding for the 9-1-1 system.
At the forefront of discussion this week at the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania’s meeting in Harrisburg was reform of, and increased funding for, 9-1-1, whose billing has not kept up with technology.
CCAP President Jeff Haste told Radio PA News the legislation funding 9-1-1 runs out in June. Without new or extended funding, the system could shift from user fees to taxpayer responsibility.
Haste says some lawmakers have shown interest in extending or increasing the funding.
