The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania technically has a new temporary leader today (2/27).

Governor Tom Corbett is undergoing hernia surgery in Pittsburgh, and while Corbett is under the effects of anesthesia, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley is holding the “reins of office.”

The Governor told Radio PA News on Wednesday that the surgery is an outpatient procedure, and that he will spend several days recuperating at his private residence in suburban Pittsburgh.  Corbett said the abdominal hernia has been giving him pain for quite some time.  He expects to be back at work sometime next week.
