Cooperstown Man Escapes Car Fire After Crash

A Cooperstown man escaped with only minor injuries Monday morning when his vehicle left the road, struck a tree and caught fire.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 AM on Route 427 in Jackson Township.

State Police say 23 year-old William Griffin was able to free himself from his vehicle just as the fire began.  The vehicle was eventually fully engulfed in flames.

Griffin was treated at UPMC Northwest.
