This weekend brings about the annual Franklin On Ice festival.
A weekend featuring professional ice carvers and a chili cook-off now is being promoted as an event that runs from Friday evening through Sunday morning.
Promoters have started the official schedule with reminders of the Cabaret performance featuring many local vocalists at the Off-Barrow Little Theatre, and the District 3 Chorus concert featuring 190 regional students at Franklin High School. Both events will be held Friday night at 7:30 PM.
Ice carving begins Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, and will be climaxed by a speed carving competition at 3:00 PM. The annual chili cook-off will run from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Liberty Galleria. Other Saturday events will include music, storytelling, a benefit open house at the Franklin Public Library, and tours of DeBence Antique Music World.
The Cabaret vocal event will be repeated Saturday evening at 7:30 PM, and Franklin Elks Lodge #110 has added a buckwheat pancake breakfast and brunch to be served Sunday from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
