Three more police reports on break-ins at area churches bring to thirteen the number of such incidents occurring on the final week of September from southern Crawford County to northern Mercer County.
The burglaries were spread out in an area ranging from Meadville to Titusville to Pleasantville to Pine Township, just outside of Grove City.
State Police officials arrested two Oil City-area men early last week in the parking lot of a church on Raymilton Road in Frenchcreek Township in Venango County. Those men were charged with burglary and other counts, and investigators said they were suspected in some or all of six other incidents which had been reported at the time. But, there has been no word as to whether the same individuals are considered suspects in the break-ins reported since their arrest, although all occurred prior to that time.
The three latest reports indicate that burglars have hit a church in Cooperstown, that a church in Pine Township was burglarized sometime on September 27 or 28, and that another incident occurred at a Sandy Lake church on September 30. Investigators say miscellaneous items were stolen.
