The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Thursday that they have signed forward Chris Kunitz to a three-year contract extension.
The new pact, including the one year remaining on his current contract, keeps Kunitz signed through the 2016-2017 season.
Kunitz led the Penguins in goals with 22 this season, was second on the team with 52 points, and finished second in rating at plus-30. On February 3, he became the first Penguins player since 2000 to score four goals in one game. He added 10 points in 15 postseason games.
The Penguins listed the average annual value of Kunitz’s new contract at $3.85 million.
