Some residents of northwestern Pennsylvania claim they felt rumblings from an event that turned out to be an earthquake centered in Quebec, Canada on Friday morning.

The quake, initially reported to have registered at 5.1 on the Richter scale but now officially recorded at 4.4, is said to have been centered about 13 miles northeast of Shawville, Quebec, or a little more than fifty miles northwest of Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian capitol.

There were no immediate reports of damage.  Early erroneous reports had listed the earthquake as having been centered in Ontario.
