With a field of 20 horses entered Wednesday for Saturday evening’s 14oth Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, California Chrome was posted as the early 5-2 favorite.

California Chrome  will be ridden from the number-5 post position by the 2002 Derby’s winning jockey, Victor Espinoza.  The horse was trained by 77 year-old Art Sherman, who would be in line to become the oldest trainer of a Kentucky Derby winner.

Hopportunity, who lost to California Chrome in the Santa Anita Derby, checked in Wednesday as second favorite at 6-1, and Wicked Strong, named in honor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing victims, was third at 8-1.
