Butler County’s State Rep. Metcalfe Called “Embarrassment” In Statement From Democratic State Committee

A high-ranking state lawmaker from Butler County has been termed in a statement released Tuesday by the Democratic State Committee “a walking, talking embarrassment to Pennsylvania.”

The statement was made after state Representative Daryl Metcalfe may have crossed the lines during remarks he made during a hearing on Tuesday.

Democrat Matt Bradford was explaining a piece of legislation during a hearing of the House State Government Committee when Metcalfe asked Bradford to stop touching him.  Radio PA News quotes Metcalfe as saying, “If you want to touch somebody, you have people on your side of the aisle who might like it.”

Metcalfe is the committee chairman.  His remarks were interpreted as being homophobic.

The Democratic State Committee, in their statement, called on Metcalfe to resign.
