A Butler County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the theft of a car from the parking lot at the entrance to the Allegheny River Trail in Emlenton.
State Police officials say a 40 year-old Emlenton man walked toward home from the river trail after discovering his car was missing, but spotted his vehicle along the way. He questioned a man, now identified as Julian Hood from Valencia, who was near his car.
Later, a 13 year-old boy told officials he had seen Hood throw something into the river. The boy said he waited until Hood had left the area, and waded into the water and discovered the victim’s I-D.
Hood was initially arraigned on a theft charge. He was committed to the Venango County Jail on $25,000 bail.
