Bucs Lose 4-0 In Cincinnati; Cueto Strikes Out 12

Johnny Cueto (1-2) struck out a career-high 12 batters on Wednesday afternoon as the Cincinnati Reds shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0 in the rubber game of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

The loss by the visiting Bucs (7-8) ended a nine-game Pittsburgh road trip.  The Pirates will return home to face the Milwaukee Brewers in a four-game series, beginning Thursday night.

Joey Votto slammed a two-run home run for Cincinnati (6-9).  Brayan Pena added an RBI double, and Billy Hamilton scored on a wild pitch by Pittsburgh starter Francisco Liriano (0-3).

Cueto held the Pirates to four hits, including a double by Andrew McCutchen, and he threw a complete game.  Liriano worked seven innings, and allowed three runs and six hits, striking out seven batters and walking three.
