With the completion late last week of a contract between a local company and the Oil City Redevelopment Authority, it appears that the demolition of the condemned Brody Block on Oil City’s North Side will begin within a week-and-a-half.
The project should be completed by the end of May. Some interior work may be finished before the demolition of the buildings themselves.
The agreement for demolition with Bert Klapec Incorporated is listed at $144,500. Between the money the redevelopment authority had on hand, a zero-percent interest loan of up to $30,000 agreed to by Oil City Council, and money raised through contributions by businesses and the public, more than $20,000 is still needed to cover the cost.
Plans for the future use of the property between Center and Sycamore Streets in Oil City have still not been finalized.
