Bowditch Wins First PGA Title Despite A Fourth-Round 76

Despite a wind-blown 4-over-par 76 in Sunday’s final round, Steven Bowditch held on for his first PGA Tour victory, winning the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio — and a spot in next week’s Masters.

Bowditch finished the four-day event at 8-under-par 280, besting Will MacKenzie and Daniel Summerhays by one stroke.  He had posted the largest final day score by a winner since Vijay Singh’s 4-over-par 76 in the final round of the 2004 PGA Championship.

Bowditch won $1.116 million.

Matt Kuchar and Andrew Loupe tied for fourth place at -6, one stroke ahead of Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Jerry Kelly and Brendon Todd.
