The remains of a body discovered by a hunter earlier this month in a wooded area of Mercer County have been identified as those of an elderly Mercer man who was reported missing last summer.
State Police at the Mercer station say the body was that of 80 year-old Donald Mariacher, who was reported missing on July 13, and had last been seen walking south on Route 19 in the direction of Interstate 80.
Mariacher’s remains were found on December 1 by a hunter traversing the deep woods in East Lackawannock Township. Authorities say Mariacher had lived about three-quarters of a mile away.
The Mercer County Coroner’s office says they believe Mariacher died of exposure, and they are ruling his death as accidental.
