Big Second Period Lifts Pens To 5-1 Romp In Philadelphia

The Pittsburgh Penguins scored four times in the second period on Tuesday night in a 5-1 victory over the Flyers in Philadelphia.

Following a scoreless first frame, Phil Kessel put the Penguins on the board in the second period with his 17th goal of the season.  The Flyers (16-15-8) tied the game a minute later on a tally by Jordan Weal, but Ryan Reaves, Conor Sheary and Tom Kuhnhackl all found the net for Pittsburgh before the end of the period.  Jamie Oleksiak added a power play goal in the final frame.

Tristan Jarry (6-3-2) started in goal for the Penguins, but left in the second period with an apparent hand injury.  Normal starter Matt Murray entered the game stopped all eleven shots he faced.

The Penguins (20-18-3) will host Carolina (18-13-8) on Thursday night.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 6:30 PM.
