The state Department of Agriculture has confirmed that a bat found lying on the floor of a Clarion Township home has tested positive for rabies.

A Brook Road family had reported that their two dogs had barked incessantly, alerting them to the live bat, which apparently could not fly.  The bat was killed, and was sent to a lab for the testing.

The family’s dogs have been quarantined.  No family members came in direct contact with the bat.
