Barkley Passes Mitchell In Career TD’s As Penn State Holds Off Nebraska 56-44

Saquon Barkley passed Lydell Mitchell’s school record for most career touchdowns by scoring three times on Saturday in Penn State’s 56-44 home victory over Nebraska (4-7; 3-5 Big Ten).

Barkley scored three times to boost his career total to 39.  Trace McSorley threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth.  Two of the scoring pass were caught by Mike Gesicki, who is now the Penn State leader in touchdown receptions by a tight end with 13, and DeAndre Thompkins caught a TD toss.  Backup quarterback Tommy Stevens threw a TD pass to Nick Bowers, also a tight end.

McSorley completed 24-of-36 passes for 325 yards with no interceptions.  Barkley rushed for 158 yards, and caught six passes for another 66 yards.  All three of his scores were on the ground.

Nebraska’s Tanner Lee was 26-for-41 for 399 yards with touchdown passes to Morgan Stanley, Jr., De’Mornay Pierson-El and Jack Stoll.  The Cornhuskers’ Mikale Wilbon ran for two scores, and Devine Ozigbo added another.  Stanley caught seven passes for 185 yards.

Penn State (9-2; 6-2 Big Ten) will wrap up the regular season with a 3:30 PM game at Maryland on Saturday.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 2:00 PM.
