Pennsylvania’s Attorney General issued a warning Tuesday concerning a telephone scam involving the alleged distribution of a “national medical card.”
Kathleen Kane says callers have been attempting to obtain personal information such as bank account and health care information in the guise of a card campaign supposedly developed under the Affordable Care Act. There are no such cards.
The Attorney General says you should never give out personal information on the telephone unless you initiated the call and have clarified the recipient. You can report such a scam call to the Attorney General’s Health Care Hotline at (877) 888 4877.
