State Police officials in Forest County say charges are being prepared against as many as eleven juveniles following a rampage early Saturday evening at the Abraxas juvenile facility near Marienville.
During the uprising four adult staff members, including a 31 year-old Oil City woman, were assaulted. All four were taken for treatment to Clarion Hospital.
The suspects are all between the ages of 14 and 17.
State Police investigators say the revolt began shortly after 7:00 PM Saturday when three staff members were assaulted inside a gymnasium. Some of the suspects then allegedly fled to a dormitory room, and began throwing items around, before advancing to a female dorm, assaulting another staff member and causing some property damage.
Officials say eight of the juveniles tried to leave the Abraxas facility. Three returned of their own volition, and five were apprehended inside a vehicle somewhere on the Abraxas property.
The matter of charges has been referred to the Forest County District Attorney’s office.
