A West Mifflin man identified as an Allegheny County councilman has apologized to his constituents in the Pittsburgh area after his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence in southern Venango County just before Christmas.
State Police at the Franklin station say the arrest of 64 year-old Robert Macey was made shortly before 8:00 AM on Saturday, December 22 at the intersection of Old Route 8 and Scrubgrass Road in Irwin Township. Troopers tell KQW that Macey’s car traveled through the intersection and into a ditch.
In a press release issued on New Years Day, troopers said that charges are pending the outcome of lab results on a blood sample drawn from Macey at UPMC Northwest in Cranberry Township following Macey’s arrest.
Macey has told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he was on his way to a friend’s camp when his car slid on ice and went into a ditch. The councilman told the newspaper that he had been drinking on the night before the accident, but had not had a drink that morning.
