Pennsylvania’s Human Services Block Grant has been extended by ten counties to a total of 30, according to Governor Tom Corbett’s office.

Last year, 30 counties applied, and 20 counties, including Venango, Crawford, Butler and Erie Counties, were chosen to be the initial participants.

The Human Services Block Grant consists of seven funding streams, and is intended to allow participating counties to have more flexibility to fund their human service programs.

The funding streams include mental health community programs, the behavioral health services initiative, the human services development fund, the intellectual disabilities community base, county child welfare special grants, the homeless assistance program, and the Act 152 detoxification and rehabilitation services for those eligible for medical assistance.
