PennDOT announced Monday that the second phase of the Emlenton Hill Improvement Project is scheduled to begin on Friday (June 7).
The work will include the replacement of a box culvert on Route 38 between Big Bend Road and Squaw Valley Road. Access to Big Bend Road from Route 38 will be limited to traffic approaching from the south, while access to Squaw Valley Road will be restricted to traffic from the north. Starting this weekend, though, the road will be closed to all vehicles for about five days.
The work for phase two is expected to take about one month.
The project has been undertaken to reconstruct about one-and-a-half miles of Route 38 in Scrubgrass Township and Emlenton Borough between the intersection with Route 208 and the intersection with Route 268. The final phase will involve the section of Route 38 between Squaw Valley Road and Route 268.
PennDOT’s official detour utilizes Interstate 80 between the Emlenton and St. Petersburg exits (Exits 42 and 45).
