By a 2-to-1 vote Tuesday, the Venango County commissioners gave final approval to a $48.9 million budget for 2013.
An accompanying real estate tax hike of nearly a half-mill (.435) will mean property owners will pay about an extra $4.35 per year for each $10,000 worth of assessed property value.
The spending plan includes a $17.8 million general fund budget, and $31.1 million for the human services budget. Some one and three-quarters million dollars will be transferred from the reserve fund to balance the budget.
Commissioner Vince Witherup voted against approving the plan, while commissioners Timothy Brooks and Bonnie Summers voted in favor of it.
